About Crab Cottage

A delightful, semi detached, original stone barn, simply but well converted to provide excellent accommodation in a unique setting within this cluster of cottages.

Crab Cottage has been renovated throughout to a high standard with oil fired central heating and woodburning stove making it really cosy. Retaining the original A frame beams and velux windows in the roof, along with crisp white walls gives the accommodation a light and airy feel. The double bedroom provides a romantic retreat, while the open plan living space with comfortable sofa and chairs has steep open tread stairs leading up to two cosy bedrooms set in the eaves, one of which is galleried and curtained.

A sunny south-facing patio fronts Crab Cottage which is entered through a stable door; an ideal spot to enjoy an alfresco meal.

Aberfforest is a very special bay on this beautiful coastline, pitted with tiny sandy coves and a favourite haunt of seals and dolphins. Deciduous ancient woodlands run down tiny valleys to the seas edge and birdwatchers and naturalists delight in the abundance of wildlife. The bay, which can only be approached by the general public over a long footpath, is almost private and has launching facilities available by prior arrangement. The small, sandy beach is perfect for swimming or kayaking and you may sometimes be joined by a seal. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path runs past Aberfforest; follow this for fantastic scenic walks to Newport beach and Dinas Head. The villages of Dinas and Newport with their shops, pubs and restaurants are under 2 miles, a pleasant walk in good weather.

The following properties are approximately 150 yards from the beach:

Part of a group of six farm buildings including Seal Cottage (13257), Seahorse Cottage (12050), Aberfforest House (13316), Hen Ty Llaeth (12750) and Barnacle Cottage (13498).

One Level Accommodation - This denotes that a bedroom, bathroom or shower room, whb/wc, living area and kitchen are on one level - guests must check the property access statement on the website or request a copy via email to base their decision on, if this is important to your stay.

Cosy seaside cottage, easy to find access from a concrete roadway from the main road. Crab Cottage is part of a small hamlet just above Aberfforest bay and on the Coastal path. Comfortable and cosy and very well equipped for our stay with our dog. Very comfortable bed, nice linen and fluffy towels provided. Welcome items much appreciated after the journey. Pets catered for with doggie bags, towels, and bowls very thoughtful and kind.

A wonderful couple of days in Crab Cottage. We enjoyed fabulous weather and the children loved the beach being so close. The cottage is very comfortable and perfect for the family to unwind – we look forward to returning again soon.

Iona, Laurie, Freddie & Dasha the dog

As always, the cottage cosy and welcoming. We had an excellent trip to Porthgain and a delicious lunch in The Shed. Swimming with a seal on Cwm-Yr-Eglwys and lots of fun on the beach.

The Kimberley Family

We’ve loved our stay at Crab Cottage – it’s been a beautiful, quiet retreat; to walk through the woods to the stunning cove, to swim, play and have adventures. Owls in the trees at night and gorgeous terns in the sky in the day. Crab Cottage so close to a sacred waterfall is incredible too. MAGICAL. Much rested and very happy with our stay.

We have had a wonderful two weeks down here at the magical Aberfforest. Highlights include: a boat trip around Ramsey Island from St. Davids, seeing seals, porpoises, buzzards and guillemots, some fantastic swimming at Aberfforest Beach, Cwm-Yr-Eglwys and Pwllgwaelod, long walks to Carn Ingli above Newport and on the Preseli Hills. Ideal activities for small children include crabbing at Parrog, getting faces painted at Castell Henllys (Iron Age Fort) and the Ocean Lab in Fishguard. Thank you for an unforgettable fortnight at this amazing and magical place.

Great walks round Dinas Head and the Preseli Hills. Fab Monday market in Newport. A day trip to St David’s (The Meadow Café great) and boat trip to Ramsey was brilliant and we saw lots of grey seals. St. Davids Cathedral a must too. So much to do! We will be back! Thank you very much!

A fantastic week in a comfortable cottage. We have had sun every day. The sea, calm as a mill pond. We know the area quite well but we still discovered some new bits and were able to tick off a bit more of the coast path. Newport market on a Monday is worth a visit. Lunch at The Old Sailor’s pub at Pwllgwaelod was worth the walk. Thank you!
